Three things wrong with
a standard bumper plate.
None of them are exotic. Every coach who has ever taught a barbell class knows all three — which is why we changed the shape instead of the marketing.
They spin on the bar.
A round plate loaded against another round plate has nothing to hold it. Drop the bar and everything rotates: the numbers face the floor, the collars work loose, and the rack never looks the same twice.
The plates key into each other.
The moulded shoulder on one face drops into the recess on the next. Loaded flush, two plates cannot turn independently — zero play, zero rotation, and the weight stays readable from across the room.
You fight them off the floor.
Flat rubber sitting flush on a flat floor gives your fingers nothing to hook. Every plate change turns into a small wrestle — and in a class of twenty, that is twenty small wrestles per round.
There is always a gap for a hand.
The raised interlock lugs hold the rim clear of the floor. Fingers go underneath first time, every time — no rolling the plate onto its edge before you can pick it up.
The colour is gone in a season.
Coloured bumpers are usually painted or capped. Under daily commercial use the colour scuffs off the high points, and within a year the plate wall reads as second-hand equipment.
The colour goes all the way through.
Mass-dyed rubber: the pigment is in the compound, not on top of it. Scuff a tiguar plate and you find the same colour underneath — moulded around a steel core sized to a 50 mm Olympic bar.

about by 1,500 trainers
before it was tooled.
Every year the whole range goes onto the floor at EU4YA — tiguar's own event, nineteen editions so far — and we hand it to around 1,500 trainers, managers and studio owners for two days. The interlock plates went through that before they went into production, and they go through it again every May.

Because the plates key into each other, a stack stands square instead of sliding into a cone. That is true in the corner of a studio, on a platform, and on a tiguar rack — the same shape doing the same job when nobody is lifting.

Certification documents, load ratings and the full warranty text come from tiguar and are published on the live site. Nothing of that kind has been invented for this prototype.
